Thank you for choosing Appalachian Emporium's Moss Grow Transplant. This is for 1 quart bag full of dried, dormant moss which has active spores required for reproduction. Works great in shade or partial sun. It can be distributed over bare soil in clumps or fine pieces to obtain a lush natural mat of sheet moss. Each bag will cover about 3 or 4 square feet if shredded fine. Some people use a food processor, blender, or just cut up fine with scissors. If you want the moss to grow vertically on walls you can add buttermilk and water to act as a paste so it will adhere to the wall long enough to start on its own (not an exact mixture, just pasty enough to stick). The pictures show new ground cover after about a year. It depends a lot on the general area it is grown. Spread the moss thin and let nature do the rest, for it will "grow in" over time. Can be used over bare ground, stonework, seasoned concrete, statuary, containers, between walking stones, brick walkways, and the list goes on... This is 100% natural moss from the forest with absolutely no fertilizers or pesticides added.
