EMD SD 40-2 DCC Ready Diesel Locomotive - NATIONAL RAILWAYS OF MEXICO #8791 - HO Scale. The prototype for this model was one of EMD's best-selling locomotives of all time. Nearly 4,000 units were built between 1972 and 1989. Over 30 railroads purchased some of them, and many are still in service today. They were perfect for mainline service and featured 3,000 HP powered by a 16-cylinder EMD 16-645-E3 Prime mover. One distinctive spotting feature is the longer than usual end platforms.
