About the Author

Marjorie de Muynck, M. Mus., MSOM, Hon
Born into a musical family, de Muynck's interest in tuning forks, sound and vibration was awakened at an early age. Her medicinal interest in Sound Healing and tuning forks grew and coalesced in 1995 when she co-founded the Kairo's Institute of Sound Healing, and co-developed the Acutonics sound healing system and co-authored the textbook, There's No Place Like Ohm: Sound Healing, Oriental Medicine and the Cosmic Mysteries. In 2008, de Muynck authored another textbook, Sound Healing: Vibrational Healing with Ohm Tuning Forks.
As a graduate of the ISIS School of Massage in 1983, de Muynck was a part of an early movement of professionals who helped to create certification standards for Massage Practitioners. As a prodigious student, practitioner and instructor of alternative healing modalities, de Muynck attended and graduated from the Seattle Shiatsu Institute (1983-1986) and studied Oriental Medicine for over 25 years. She taught Shiatsu, Hara Diagnosis, Kundalini Yoga, Reiki and Sound Healing at the Northwest Institute of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine for 6 years. A Master of Music in Music Education (Boston University 2007), de Muynck was awarded a posthumous honorary degree as a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine from the Acupuncture College in Santa Fe in 2011.
De Muynck also pioneered four musical compositions in the key of Ohm, an alternative tuning located between the notes of C and C sharp, to complement the Sound Healing system she created featuring tuning forks and bowls tuned to the same frequency. The four CDs are: There's No Place Like Ohm Volumes 1 & 2(Lemniscate Music, 2002 & 2005), In the Key of Earth (Sounds True, 2007, re-released Lemniscate Music, 2013) and Vibrational Healing Music (Sounds True, 2007, re-released Lemnsicate Music, 2013).
De Muynck's eclectic mix of experience as a musician, composer, recording artist, healing arts practitioner and educator, combined with her scientific understanding of vibration and sound, led her to create Ohm Therapeutics, a comprehensive vibrational healing system which features Music + Tuning Forks.
