As a successor to the famous pontoon Mercedes, the W120, Mercedes-Benz presented the series W110 in 1961. With the design element of the so-called rear fins, the Mercedes-Benz design department made concessions to the prevailing American automotive design. However, Mercedes referred to these as "dipbars" as they clearly marked the end of the vehicle when parking backwards.
