Lucky Jackson travels to Las Vegas, Nevada to compete in the city's first annual Grand Prix. However, his racing car needs a new engine to race.

Lucky collects the money he needs in Las Vegas, but loses it when a young hotel swimming instructor, Rusty Martin, pushes him into the pool. Lucky then has to work as a waiter at a hotel to make up for lost money to pay the hotel bill, as well as enter the hotel's talent competition in hopes of winning a cash prize enough to pay for his car's engine.

All the while, Lucky tries to win over Rusty to yourself. His main rival is Count Elmo Mancini and his Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta. Mancini tries to win both the Grand Prix and Rusty's love. Rusty soon falls in love with Lucky and immediately tries to turn him into whatever he wants.
